Introduction to Folio

Folio is a gallery delivery platform for photographers. You create a gallery, drop your photos in, and share a link with your client — either privately or on your public portfolio.

Your clients just open a link and see the photos — nothing else gets in the way.

How it works

When you sign up, you'll be prompted to create your first portfolio. A portfolio is your top-level brand — it has a name, a description, and a subdomain (like yourname.folio.photo). Everything lives inside it.

Inside your portfolio, you create galleries. Each gallery is a collection of photos you can share independently — a wedding selects gallery, a final delivery, a preview for a client to review. Every gallery gets its own shareable link, and you control who can access it and for how long.

Free accounts get 1 portfolio with unlimited galleries. Paid plans unlock additional portfolios and more storage. See Pricing for details.

Three steps to your first delivery

  1. Create a gallery — give it a name, choose a layout
  2. Add your photos — drag and drop, arrange how you like
  3. Hit share — copy the link, send it to your client

Most photographers have their first gallery live within a few minutes of signing up.

What your clients see

When someone opens your gallery link, they land on a clean photo grid. Photos display in their full aspect ratio — no cropping, no square thumbnails. Tapping a photo opens it full-screen with native-feeling controls: swipe to browse, pinch to zoom.

If you've enabled it, they can view EXIF data, download individual photos, or grab the whole gallery as a zip. The UI is intentionally minimal — it should be usable by everyone, including someone who's never used a gallery platform before.

You can also cap the max resolution or overlay your own watermark for proofing and preview galleries — originals stay untouched until you're ready to deliver. Folio doesn't add its own branding or watermarks, and clients are never asked to create an account.
