Adding photos to a gallery
Photos are uploaded directly into galleries. Open a gallery in the editor, then drag your files in or click the Upload button.
How it works
- Open a gallery from your portfolio
- Click Upload in the gallery editor, or drag files anywhere onto the canvas
- Folio begins uploading immediately — you can continue working while files go up
Photos appear in the gallery as they finish uploading. You can reorder them, organize into collections, or adjust gallery settings while uploads are still running.
Supported formats
| Category | Formats |
|---|---|
| Web images | JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF |
| High-quality | TIFF, PSD |
| RAW | CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG, ORF, RW2, and more |
Processing
After upload, Folio handles two things automatically:
| Task | What it does |
|---|---|
| Thumbnail generation | Creates preview images at multiple resolutions for fast browsing |
| EXIF extraction | Reads camera metadata — lens, focal length, ISO, shutter speed, etc. |
Large uploads (1,000+ files) may take a few minutes to fully process. Thumbnails appear progressively as they're ready.
Storage
Uploaded files count against your plan's storage quota. Thumbnails and previews generated by Folio do not count.
See Storage & quotas for details on limits and what happens when you're close to full.
