Custom domains

Serve your galleries from your own domain — like galleries.yourstudio.com — so clients see your brand in the URL too.

Available on Starter and above.

Setup

1. Go to Settings → Domains
2. Add your domain
3. Add the DNS record Folio shows you at your registrar
4. Folio verifies the record and issues a TLS certificate automatically

Your galleries are now served from your domain.

DNS record

After adding your domain, the settings panel shows the exact DNS record to configure at your registrar. Follow those instructions — the values shown there are always up to date.

DNS changes typically propagate within a few minutes. Some registrars take up to an hour.

TLS certificate

Folio issues a Let's Encrypt certificate automatically once DNS verification passes. You don't need to manage certificates.

Multiple domains

Each portfolio can have one custom domain. If you manage multiple brands, you can attach a different domain to each portfolio.

Troubleshooting

"DNS verification failed" Check that the CNAME value matches exactly what's shown in settings. Some registrars add a trailing dot automatically — that's fine.

Certificate not issued after 10 minutes DNS may still be propagating. Check with dnschecker.org to confirm the CNAME is visible globally.

Existing website on that subdomain You can't point a subdomain to Folio if it already has another DNS record (A, AAAA, or CNAME). Use a fresh subdomain.
